pregnancyMany women have challenges during pregnancy. Even women who don't seem to have challenges the body goes through a lot during the months and weeks leading up to delivery. All of these stresses and changes to the body make pregnant woman the perfect fit for chiropractic care.

All pregnant women can be evaluated for chiropractic care. If you are found to be in need of chiropractic care, as with any patient, a specific treatment plan will be outlined for you. Dr. Van Til has taken a number of post graduate courses on ADJUSTING PREGNANT WOMEN. So be assured that you will have a thorough exam and all of your questions will be answered. Many women suffer from LOW BACK PAIN DURING PREGNANCY. Chiropractic care during pregnancy can help to relieve this discomfort. Dr. Van Til is also certified in the WEBSTER TECHNIQUE to help keep your body in proper alignment as much as possible while progressing along in your pregnancy.

The changes in the body for women who are going through pregnancy are extensive. Their needs can be extensive also. We will strive to meet those needs as your body changes. As we go forward with your care we offer a pregnancy pillow that is designed specifically for our pregnant patients for when they become uncomfortable on the traditional chiropractic tables. This pillow allows a pregnant patient to not only be able to lie on her back and side comfortably, but also on her stomach for treatments.

When it comes to pregnancy and chiropractic, it is all about maximizing your quality of life and minimizing your discomfort. This goes for while you are receiving care in the office and when you are going about your daily activities.

Here are some FAQs about pregnancy:

Is it safe for pregnant women to be adjusted?

Absolutely!! Pregnant women should be adjusted, they are constantly experiencing changes in their bodies that they were not dealing with even days earlier. Chiropractic care will evaluate and give the best possible treatment plan for a woman who is going through hip shifts, changes in posture, and altered balance--not to mention all the pressure in both her abdomen and lower back. I have taken extensive post graduate coursework in order to give the best care possible to all pregnant patients.

Can new moms be adjusted?

Yes! Dr. Van Til has gone to hospitals, to homes, and had newborns with their mothers come in to our office days after birth. The birthing process is traumatic for both the mother and the child. She needs to get her hips back into position over the next days/months--the sooner she gets adjusted the better for her recovery. As for the child, if there are any abnormalities found, the faster they are identified sooner and the better for the child to be evaluated and treated.

What is the Webster Technique?

The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment. It is used to help keep the sacrum (tailbone), pelvis and adjacent joints in line and balanced. In doing so the function of the pelvis can remain at its best.
